Gauahar Khan has reacted to a controversial remark made by Bigg Boss 20 contestant Aasif Khan during the reality show’s recent task, questioning his comments about men who do not keep moustaches. The Bigg Boss 7 winner also referred to Islamic teachings while responding to his statement.
Aasif Khan, who is currently participating in Bigg Boss 20, found himself at the centre of a discussion after making a remark about moustaches during the show’s utar prachar task.
The Panchayat actor spoke about the importance of moustaches to his identity and said that, in his view, men without moustaches were not considered “mard” in his cultural context.
His comment did not go unchallenged inside the Bigg Boss house, with some male contestants disagreeing with his statement. Gauahar Khan has now also shared her reaction on social media.
Gauahar Khan calls out Aasif Khan’s remark
Gauahar addressed Aasif’s comments through an Instagram Story.
She questioned the actor’s attitude during an earlier discussion involving contestants Rhiti Tiwari and Uditi Singh before turning her attention to his statement about moustaches.
Gauahar wrote that she was disappointed to see Aasif appear to support comments she considered inappropriate during that earlier exchange.
She then responded directly to his statement about masculinity.
“Mard ki nishaani uski unchi soch aur behaviour hoti hai! Wish he knew that!” Gauahar wrote.
She also referred to Islam while challenging Aasif’s statement, writing that he appeared to have forgotten what she described as the Islamic position regarding moustaches.
What did Aasif Khan say about moustaches?
During the utar prachar task, Aasif spoke about his Rajasthan roots and connected moustaches with masculine identity.
“Hum naa Rajasthan se aate hain, yeh mooch humari pehchaan hai, aur muchmundo ko mardon mein consider nahi karte hum. Isliye daadi aisi hai,” he said during the episode.
The comment prompted disagreement among some of the other contestants.
Kushal Tanwar, also known as Gullu, pointed out that many men do not keep moustaches. He also referenced Salman Khan, whose reality show the contestants are currently part of.
Aman also disagreed with Aasif’s statement and offered his own view of what constitutes being a “real man”, saying that men should focus on keeping people united rather than becoming aggressive.

Gauahar’s reaction was not limited to the moustache controversy.
In her Instagram Story, she also referred to an earlier situation in which Rhiti Tiwari allegedly used derogatory language while discussing Uditi Singh. Gauahar questioned Aasif’s response to that exchange.
She wrote that Aasif appeared to be enjoying the conversation and said she was disappointed because she considers him a good actor.
“Such a good actor par Har cheez mein aisi soch choti lagti hai,” she wrote.
Gauahar subsequently connected the discussion to her broader point about how she believes masculinity should be understood.

Gauahar concluded her post by arguing that masculinity should be associated with a person’s conduct and outlook rather than physical appearance.
Her comment — “Mard ki nishaani uski unchi soch aur behaviour hoti hai” — became the central point of her response.
Her reference to Islam was framed as her interpretation of Islamic teaching. Islamic jurisprudence contains established guidance concerning moustaches, including the practice of trimming them, although interpretations and practices regarding moustache length and shaving can differ. Gauahar’s Instagram post should therefore be understood as her response and religious interpretation rather than as a comprehensive account of Islamic jurisprudence.
