Actor Vishal has suffered a back injury while filming an action sequence for his upcoming Tamil film Purushan in Goa. The actor confirmed that the accident occurred during the shooting of an intense fight sequence and said doctors have advised him to take approximately three weeks of rest.
The injury also means Vishal will be unable to attend the upcoming general body meeting of the South Indian Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam), where he serves as the organisation’s general secretary.
Vishal Injured During Purushan Climax Shoot
According to Vishal’s statement, the incident took place while the team was filming the climax of Purushan in Goa.
The actor was performing a demanding fight sequence when an unexpected accident occurred, resulting in an injury to his back.
Vishal was subsequently taken for a medical examination. He said doctors advised him to take complete rest for three weeks to allow him to recover.
Sharing an update on his health, the actor said, “The climax shoot of my next film, Purushan, was happening in Goa. During an intense fight sequence, an unexpected accident occurred and I suffered an injury to my back.”
He also thanked fans, colleagues and well-wishers who expressed concern about his condition.
Vishal to Miss Nadigar Sangam General Body Meeting
The injury has also affected Vishal’s responsibilities at the South Indian Artistes’ Association.
As the organisation’s general secretary, the actor was expected to attend its general body meeting on September 27. However, his recovery period means he will not be able to participate in person.
Vishal expressed regret over missing the meeting and said he hoped members would understand his situation.
He also indicated that he is looking forward to recovering and returning to his regular professional and organisational activities.
Doctors Advise Three Weeks of Rest
Vishal said that the doctors who examined him advised three weeks of rest for a complete recovery.
The actor’s statement did not provide further medical details about the nature or severity of the back injury.
Production plans for Purushan following the accident have not been detailed in the statement. Any changes to the shooting schedule would depend on Vishal’s recovery and the filmmakers’ production plans.
Vishal and Tamannaah Bhatia Reunite for Purushan
Purushan brings Vishal and Tamannaah Bhatia together once again.
The pair previously appeared together in Kaththi Sandai (2016) and Action (2019). Their latest collaboration is being directed by Sundar C, with whom Vishal has previously worked on multiple projects.
The film is described as an action comedy and also features Yogi Babu.
Sundar C has co-written the screenplay with Venkat Raghavan, while the music is composed by Hiphop Tamizha Adhi.
Tamannaah Recently Celebrated 21 Years in Cinema
The Purushan team recently came together on the Goa sets to celebrate Tamannaah Bhatia completing 21 years in the film industry.
The actress began her career at a young age and has subsequently worked across Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema.
The celebrations took place while the team was shooting the upcoming film.
What Is Next for Vishal?
Purushan is among Vishal’s upcoming Tamil projects, with the actor continuing his association with director Sundar C.
Vishal’s most recent film was Magudam, in which he also took on directing responsibilities and played two characters — Kirubakran “Kripa” and Don Lingappa “Linga.”
The actor is now expected to take a temporary break from filming while he follows the medical advice given after the Goa accident.
