Mumbai: Television host and actor Mini Mathur has opened up about a remark made by Salman Khan about her husband, filmmaker Kabir Khan, during his appearance on Prime Video’s reality show Alliance. While Mini said she adores the Bollywood superstar and enjoyed having him on the show, she admitted that she did not appreciate his “scared of wife” comment about Kabir.
Mini discussed the moment during an interview with podcaster Nayandeep Rakshit on his YouTube channel. She also reflected on Salman’s appearance on Alliance, describing it as an entertaining and timely addition to the show shortly before its finale.
Mini Mathur Says She ‘Didn’t Like That Comment’
Speaking about Salman’s remark, Mini made it clear that her affection for the actor did not mean she agreed with everything he said.
“I, of course, adore him and it was wonderful to hear him say that. You know, of course, I didn’t like that comment,” Mini said.
The remark was connected to her husband Kabir Khan, with Salman joking about the filmmaker being “scared” of his wife.
Rather than focusing only on the comment, Mini also used the conversation to discuss how her appearance on Alliance allowed Salman to see a different side of her.
‘Kabir’s Better Half’ Identity
Mini said that she had often been identified primarily through her relationship with Kabir Khan.
According to her, Salman’s appearance on the show gave him an opportunity to know her independently of her identity as the filmmaker’s wife.
“I was always like Kabir’s better half, and so I’m glad that he got to see a side of me that he hadn’t before,” she said.
Her comments suggest that being recognised for her own personality and work on the reality show was meaningful to her, particularly in an environment where viewers could see her outside the context of her marriage.
Mini Mathur Recalls Salman Khan’s ‘Crazy Energy’ on Alliance
Despite taking issue with the remark about Kabir, Mini spoke warmly about Salman’s overall appearance on Alliance.
She said she particularly enjoyed watching the other contestants react to the superstar’s presence in the house.
“It was so enjoyable to watch the rest of the house sit with their mouths open and their jaws on the floor saying, ‘This is real. Somebody pinch me. The Salman Khan is sitting with us sipping coffee,’” she recalled.
Salman’s appearance came just days before the finale and was intended in part to support his brother Sohail Khan, who was participating in the show.
Mini said his presence brought a different kind of energy to the house at a crucial stage of the competition.
“We just needed that kind of energy in the house two days, three days before the finale. He shared a lot of his personal experiences, gave Su a boost and joked around with a whole lot of us. It was nice to have that crazy energy in the house,” she said.
Mini Mathur Won Alliance
Mini Mathur ultimately emerged as the winner of the Prime Video reality show Alliance.
She took home the winner’s trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh.
Her comments about Salman come after the show gave her an opportunity to be seen in a different setting, away from her long association with Kabir Khan and her work as a television host and actor.
Salman Khan and Kabir Khan’s Professional Association
Salman Khan and Kabir Khan have previously collaborated on two notable films: Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Their professional partnership has been the subject of discussion for years, particularly because the two films became significant projects in Salman’s filmography.
In an earlier conversation with IndiaToday.in, Kabir Khan said he would be open to working with Salman again if they found a script that excited both of them.
“If there’s a script, I would love to seek Salman, and he too should be excited about it. We have had a fabulous collaboration. The role he has in my career, I will never be able to underestimate that,” Kabir had said.
The filmmaker added that a future collaboration would need to be driven by the story rather than simply bringing the two back together.
“We had a fruitful collaboration and created some iconic characters. I would love to do it [again] but it has to be script-based.”
What Is Salman Khan Doing Next?
Salman Khan is currently associated with Bigg Boss 20 as its host.
The actor is also set to appear in the upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, adding another major project to his acting slate.
For Mini Mathur, meanwhile, Alliance has become a significant chapter after winning the reality competition and gaining an opportunity to showcase a side of her personality that, as she explained, is often overshadowed by her association with Kabir Khan.
