Indian shooter Parinaaz Dhaliwal described the women’s skeet team’s historic bronze medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 as an “amazing” achievement, crediting the team’s experience, preparation and determination for helping them handle difficult conditions.
India secured its first-ever Asian Games medal in the women’s skeet team event on Wednesday, with Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan combining for a bronze-medal finish.
The Indian trio finished third with a combined score of 331 points. China took the gold medal with 346 points, while Kazakhstan claimed silver.
Speaking to ANI after the event, Parinaaz said the result was a particularly satisfying moment for the team.
“It feels really good. It’s… it’s very, very good that we’ve medaled, and it feels amazing,” Parinaaz said.
Experience Helped India Handle Difficult Weather
The competition presented challenging weather conditions, but Parinaaz said the Indian shooters were prepared to deal with changing conditions.
According to the shooter, the team’s experience meant they could remain focused even when the weather was not ideal.
“It doesn’t matter. However the weather is, I think we’ve shot enough. We’ve all been quite experienced when it comes to the weather,” she told ANI.
She acknowledged that weather can influence shooting conditions but said the team worked to ensure it did not become a major distraction.
“Yes, it does play a bit of a role, but it doesn’t let us… I mean, we make sure that it doesn’t bother us that much,” Parinaaz added.
Parinaaz Eyes More Medals for India
The bronze medal was not the end of Parinaaz’s campaign at the Asian Games. She was scheduled to compete in the mixed team event the following day and remained optimistic about India’s prospects in the shooting competition.
“100%. I have the mixed team event to shoot tomorrow as well,” she said, adding that she hoped India would continue winning medals throughout the Games.
Her comments reflected the wider momentum around the Indian shooting contingent, with more events still to be contested.
Shooter Credits Coaches, Federation and Family
Parinaaz also dedicated the historic medal to the people and organisations that supported her journey.
She specifically acknowledged the team’s support staff, the shooting federation, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), her family and her personal coach.
“Everybody. It’s the whole support staff, our federation, Sports Authority of India, my family—which just goes without saying—my personal coach, who is here with me, having come all the way from France. Everybody has a role to play,” Parinaaz said.
The acknowledgement highlighted the broader support system behind the athletes competing at the international level.
