Parineeti Chopra has spoken out against the scrutiny faced by women after childbirth, defending Katrina Kaif amid online trolling over her postpartum appearance. The actor said commenting on a woman’s body after she has had a baby is “absolutely uneducated” and questioned why the physical changes associated with motherhood are treated negatively.
Parineeti Chopra has criticised the online trolling faced by women over postpartum weight and appearance, coming out in support of fellow actor Katrina Kaif after she became the subject of social-media commentary following the birth of her son.
Speaking to PTI, Parineeti questioned why physical changes caused by pregnancy and childbirth are judged differently from other changes to the body.

“When somebody comments on a postpartum body, I find it uneducated,” Parineeti said.
She compared postpartum changes with other visible changes people experience through everyday life, including getting a haircut, developing a tan after a holiday or building muscle through exercise.
Parineeti Chopra: ‘Making a Human Life’ Should Be Celebrated
Parineeti argued that while many physical changes are openly celebrated, the changes associated with pregnancy can instead become targets for criticism.
“You get a haircut, your hair is going to be shorter. You go for a vacation, you are going to come back with a tan. You are going to the gym, so you are going to make abs,” she said.
She then questioned why the physical evidence of pregnancy and childbirth is treated negatively.
“But making a human life, a baby, that evidence on the body is not celebrated. How is it negative?” she added.
Parineeti also offered a different way of looking at stretch marks, saying she would see them as evidence that a woman had gone through pregnancy rather than something to criticise.
Her comments came amid discussion around Katrina Kaif, who has faced online scrutiny over her appearance following the birth of her son with Vicky Kaushal.

Parineeti Says She Stays Away From Social-Media Trolling
Parineeti said one reason she does not encounter much online trolling personally is that she deliberately limits her time on social media.
“Since, I don’t spend much time on social media, I don’t get to read about any kind of trolling,” she told PTI.
The actor said she is largely unaware of much of the commentary directed at her or other people because she considers such discussions insignificant.
She also said she generally avoids commenting on other people’s bodies and personal lives.
Parineeti questioned whether people who engage in such commentary are seeking attention or attempting to build a presence or career on social media.

‘I’ve Never Been Asked About My Motherhood or My Looks’
The actor also spoke about her own experience of returning to work after becoming a mother.
Parineeti gave birth to her son in October 2025 and was pregnant while working on Shaque: Trust No One. She said the makers of the Netflix series supported her throughout the production.
According to Parineeti, conversations surrounding her professional work have focused on what she can bring to a role rather than her appearance or motherhood.
“I’m in rooms every single day where I’ve never been asked about my motherhood or my looks or anything,” she said.
She added that discussions about her casting have centred on her ability to perform the role and what she could contribute to the project.
Parineeti suggested that, in her experience, much of the discussion around women’s appearance comes from media coverage and people outside the immediate filmmaking process rather than from the professional conversations she has had with industry colleagues.

Soni Razdan Questions Society’s Obsession With Women’s Appearance
Actor Soni Razdan, who also stars in Shaque: Trust No One, similarly questioned the scrutiny directed at women over ageing, childbirth and changes in appearance.
Razdan referred to a social-media post about Sarah Jessica Parker, which focused on visible signs of ageing while she continued to look confident.
She questioned why women are expected to maintain the appearance they had decades earlier.
Razdan said women are frequently singled out for criticism after having children or as they age, adding that ageing and physical changes are natural parts of life.
Her comments broadened the conversation beyond postpartum weight to the wider expectations placed on female actors and public figures.
Salman Khan Had Also Spoken Against Trolling Katrina Kaif
The discussion follows criticism of body-shaming directed at Katrina Kaif, with Salman Khan also recently speaking against online trolling.
Katrina and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in November 2025. Following the birth, social-media commentary around Katrina’s appearance prompted discussion about the scrutiny faced by celebrity mothers.

Parineeti Chopra is set to return to acting with Netflix’s upcoming psychological thriller ** Shaque: Trust No One **.
The series also stars Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Soni Razdan and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 24, 2026.
For Parineeti, the project also represents a return to acting after becoming a mother. Her comments about working during pregnancy and the support she received from the production have added another dimension to the promotion of the series.
