Swara Bhasker has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, revealing that she once planned to become a mother without getting married and underwent two rounds of IVF with an anonymous donor. The actor shared the details while speaking with fellow contestants on Rise And Fall Season 2, explaining how her plans for motherhood changed unexpectedly after she met politician Fahad Ahmad.
Swara said there was a period when she had largely accepted that marriage might not happen for her. However, she was clear that she wanted to experience motherhood and was prepared to pursue it independently.
Swara Bhasker Had Discussed IVF With Her Parents
According to Swara, she had spoken to her parents about the possibility of having a child through IVF if she remained unmarried.
“I was okay to do IVF, I had convinced my parents, ‘Meri shaadi toh hone se rahi, main IVF se bacha karungi,’” she said during the conversation.
She recalled that her parents were initially surprised by the idea. However, after understanding that becoming a mother was something she genuinely wanted, they supported her decision while also pointing out the challenges she could face as an unmarried mother in India.
“First they were like, ‘Hain?’ And then bechare mere parents yaar, bade sweet log hain. They were like, ‘Okay,’ but of course talked to me and said, ‘Listen, it will be very challenging in a country like India. But it’s okay if that’s what you want,’” Swara recalled.
She Says She Tried IVF Twice With an Anonymous Donor
Swara went on to reveal that the idea was not merely a conversation with her family. She said she actually underwent two rounds of IVF using an anonymous donor.
“You know, I did two rounds of IVF, anonymous donor, and hua nahi,” she said.
The attempts were unsuccessful, after which her personal circumstances took an unexpected turn.
How Swara Bhasker Met Fahad Ahmad
Swara and Fahad Ahmad first met in January 2020 at a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in New Delhi.
The meeting eventually developed into a relationship. Recalling how quickly their relationship progressed, Swara described it as an unexpected sequence of events.
“We hooked up like immediately… it was insane. We got married in a court, we had a court wedding. Like basically 2-3 khushkhabri humein saath mein mil gayi,” she said.
The couple registered their marriage in Mumbai on February 16, 2023. They later celebrated their wedding with family and friends in traditional ceremonies.
Swara and Fahad Welcomed Daughter Raabiyaa in 2023
A few months after their marriage, Swara and Fahad entered another major chapter of their lives when they welcomed their daughter, Raabiyaa, on September 23, 2023.
The couple announced their daughter’s arrival two days later. Swara described the birth as both “a prayer heard” and “a blessing granted.”
They had previously announced Swara’s pregnancy in June 2023.
Who Is Fahad Ahmad?
Fahad Ahmad is a politician associated with the Samajwadi Party. Around the time of his marriage to Swara, he was serving as the Maharashtra state president of the party’s youth wing, the Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha.
Swara’s latest comments offer a glimpse into a period when she was considering motherhood independently and had already taken steps towards that goal. Her account also highlights how her personal circumstances changed after meeting Fahad, eventually leading to marriage and the birth of their daughter.
