Vahbiz Dorabjee says she has been dealing with a flood of calls and messages from unknown numbers after a fake Facebook profile allegedly using her identity shared her phone number and email address online. The actor says she is considering approaching the Cyber Crime Cell to have the account removed.
Actor and entrepreneur Vahbiz Dorabjee has spoken about an alleged social media impersonation incident that resulted in her personal contact details being circulated online.
According to Vahbiz, someone created a fake Facebook account in her name and shared her phone number and email ID. She said the incident has led to messages and calls from people she does not know and has forced her to spend time blocking unfamiliar numbers.
Speaking to Bombay Times, Vahbiz recalled how she discovered that her personal information had been posted.
Vahbiz says unknown men started contacting her
Vahbiz said she initially received messages from unknown men before someone sent her a link asking whether the account was really hers.
“Unknown men started messaging me and then somebody sent me a link and asked, ‘Is this really you?’ So I opened the link and was horrified. My number and email ID have been shared…”
She said she did not believe the account represented genuine fan activity and suspected that the page had been created with an intention to harass her.
“I don’t think any fan would do this. I am sure this has been done out of spite and enmity just to harass me.”
That, however, is Vahbiz’s belief about the motivation behind the account; the identity and motive of whoever created it have not been independently established.
Actor plans to approach Cyber Crime Cell
Vahbiz said she has been contacting friends and acquaintances to report the fake page and help draw attention to the impersonation.
She also revealed that she is considering taking the matter to the authorities.
“I am constantly blocking unknown numbers and planning to approach the Cyber Crime Cell to help me get this page taken down.”
The incident has also raised concerns for the actor because the phone number involved is one she has used for many years.
‘This has been my number for 20 years’
Vahbiz said she hopes she will not have to change her long-standing phone number because of the incident.
“This has been my number for 20 years. I hope I don’t have to change it. I will try not to take that step, but I want to teach the miscreant a lesson.”
Her comments suggest that she intends to explore formal action rather than immediately abandoning the number she has used for two decades.
The episode also highlights a recurring risk for public figures: fake social media profiles can be used to impersonate them while exposing personal information to strangers.
Who is Vahbiz Dorabjee?
Vahbiz Dorabjee is an actor, model and entrepreneur known for her work in Hindi television.
She made her acting debut with the supernatural romance series Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. She subsequently appeared in shows including Saraswatichandra, Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant and Deewaniyat.
Alongside acting, Vahbiz has also pursued entrepreneurial interests.

Vahbiz met actor Vivian Dsena while working on Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. The two began dating and married in 2013.
They separated in 2016 and later legally ended their marriage on December 18, 2021.
The former couple have generally kept the details of their separation private. In an earlier conversation with Hindustan Times, Vivian said that the matter was personal between him and Vahbiz.
